"Dynamic Duo" Challenge

Aloha! Alright who's ready to get fired up for my next challenge group? It's going to a "Duo" Challenge. So that means you get to partner up with who ever you want to share your fitness and health journey with. It will start September 15, 2014. It is a 60 day challenge group that requires a challenge pack of your choice, which is any Beachbody fitness program, including Shakeology. As your health and fitness coach, I will help you establish your goals, teach you how to create an awesome meal plan, tips on how to prep, give recipes, snack ideas, encourage and motivate you every single day, provide daily posts for you to interact throughout your challenge so you can stay accountable. We all keep each other accountable!  This is an awesome way to kick start the Fall Season. You and your partner will have the benefit of motivating one another and holding each other accountable throughout the challenge. What a better way to help keep your drive and your commitment in check? Having that workout partner can double your performance.

Here are the 10 reasons why you should have a fitness buddy:

  1. Help you achieve your fitness goals: receiving a phone call each two weeks can boost the amount of exercise you do by up to 78% (on average). So having that partner call you up and check on your progress, how much exercise was done in the past week, and if any workouts were missed, emphasizes the importance of getting back on track. So study shows that social support through a phone call or even social networking can boost your motivation considerably.
  2. Working out becomes fun: the more fun your workouts are the more you are going to look forward to and be committed to them over the long-term.  Working out on your own can be lonely, so just having that social contact- being able to laugh, cheer each other on- will make the workout much more enjoyable and exciting.
  3. Easier to try new workouts: power in numbers! So when you have someone by your side it's less intimidating to take your workout to a local gym and hold a class, or hitting the free weights. Getting a buddy on board will increase your confidence.
  4. Keep your form on point: having a partner, even if they aren't experts, can help you with your form and give pointers and tips on how to correct any mistakes.
  5. Competition makes you perform better: study shows that when you're paired up you perform better, especially when you're challenging one another. It maximizes your motivation.
  6. Motivates and supports you: having someone in your corner makes a significant difference to how motivated you are. The better the workout buddy, the better motivation and support comes along with it. Thus boosting your commitment towards your goals and increasing your confidence in achieving them.
  7. Keeps your ego in check: having a good workout buddy recognizes that you're proud of your achievements and confident with what you've got, and at the same time keeps you grounded by constantly pushing you to your peak.
  8. Makes your workouts safer: an accountability partner definitely helps you from getting hurt. They can watch out for you and spot you.
  9. Brings variety to your workouts: your buddy will have different knowledge and different skills, and vise versa. So both of you will benefit from one another. Variety is one of the key components to fun, so you're more likely to stick with it when you introduce new things in the mix.
  10. Increases commitment massively: definitely much harder to just quit when you have a partner in crime. When you ditch your workout, you're not only giving up on yourself, but you're also letting your partner down. So having a partner means you have to plan your workouts in advance and meet each others' schedule. Once it's in the books then it much more permanent and the more likely that you will follow through in your workout.
So, it's so beneficial to have a workout buddy. If you want the best results then hit up your spouse, your best friend, your significant other, sister, brother, cousin, co-worker, etc; who ever it may be and start your transformation together. If you're serious about getting your best results then this is a great way to do it.

Citrus Herb Shrimp Tacos with Avocado Salsa Verde

So tonight I was craving something easy, healthy, and something with bold flavor! This awesome dish was so simple and so quick to make. It's definitely in the 30 minute meal category. Plus, only 233 calories per serving. Awesome sauce!!
Ingredients
Avocado Salsa:
1 small onion, quartered
1 jalapeƱo,  quartered, seeds optional
1 garlic clove, smashed
1 cup salsa verde pre-made
1 avocado, peeled, seeded, and cut into chunks
1/4 cup cilantro, coarsely chopped
Salt to taste
Shrimp:
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1/2 of a packet of Citrus Herb mix
1 pound of medium shrimp,  peeled and devices
8 corn tortillas
10 sprigs of cilantro for garnish
2 limes, cut into wedges
Directions
Alright..so put the onions, jalapeƱos,  and garlic in a food processor and finely chop. But if you're old school like me, you can just chop it finely with your awesome chopping knife :) Next, mash up the avocados with a fork in a bowl, add the onions, jalapenos, garlic, and the salsa verde. And salt to taste.
Now to the shrimpies!  Heat your stove top to medium-high. Mix the olive oil and the citrus herb mix in a bowl.  Add the shrimp and toss to coat. You have the option to let it marinate for 20 minutes, which I did, however if your tight on time go ahead and cook those babies until transluscent. About 1 1/2 to 2 minutes on each side.
Lastly, the corn tortillas. Various options- grab 8 paper towels and damp them with water. Alternatively, wrap tortillas and pop them in the microwave. If you're a grill guru you can lay them on the grill for 20 seconds each side. If you want to keep them nice and moist then wrap them in damp paper towels and put them in a big zip lock bag. Up to you. Grab a corn tortilla, spoon a generous amount of avocado salsa verde, add your shrimpies,  a couple sprigs of cilantro, and for an added bonus you can add a little quesco fresco on top. And that's it. Happy eating!!

When you feel defeated...get back up and try again!

There will be good days and there will be not so good days. We celebrate like heck when we get the best news, get the best recognition, and get the best glorification of what we've been working so hard for. And then when we slip up, it hits us ten times harder. Why is that?

Today, I had one of those days. I moved up, and then I fell short the very next week. How does that happen? Things in life happen just like that. It's crazy right? Most times it's understandable, sometimes it's unbearable. But we push through. Why? Because if we stay stuck, then we get lost. We lose ourselves, we lose everything we believe in, we lose everything we have worked so hard for, and we lose our faith. All within a blink of an eye, if we stand still.

We get discouraged because we become vulnerable. It weakens our entire being. It diminishes our spirit. That's why it hurts so badly. But only if we let it! So easily, we can just slip back to what we knew what we were so comfortable with. It's hard to think out of the box and be creative, to put yourself out there. When we push ourselves we stink of fear because we don't know what we're really capable of until we try. Have you ever had this feeling? Have you ever pushed yourself to the point where you scared yourself? Pretty intense stuff.

Today, was so absurd. I tried to do my best and just laugh at it. It wasn't a big deal, but it felt discouraging. People will not always agree with what you're doing and what you're trying to accomplish. They'll find ways to bring you down! Even if it's the smallest things. And what's funny is when they can't tell you straight to your face, they have to go behind your back and find authority to do it for them. Haha, sound familiar? I'm sure you guys have gone through a similar situation right? Of course!

So even though today wasn't an enormous disappointment, it was big enough to grab my attention and blog about it. In the end, don't let someone stand in your way of what you've been fighting so hard for. When you have a goal or a dream, go for it with everything you've got! Starting out is always the hardest, most challenging obstacle we face. It will take time! It will take time! It will take time! I repeat that because I need to believe it myself.

When we have our trials, we learn from them, we deal with it, feel what we need to feel, and then let it go. That's the only way to move forward. You can't dwell in the past and expect for things to change for the better in the future. The past will blur your vision, it'll beat your mind, and it'll weaken your soul. It's not about what happened, it's about what you'll do in order to get back up again.

Man we live in a world of defeat. But we also live in a world of hope. Keep striving for greatness! I know I will. And you will too because I know you can. Anyone can. You just need to believe in yourself. Happy Aloha Friday everyone :)

Week 5 Pregnancy Update: P90X & PiYo Hybrid (Day 1)

Aloha guys! Sorry it's been so long since I've given you my update. Okay so I'm 5 weeks into my post pregnancy and I'm in week 1 of my P90X and PiYo Hybrid challenge group. Ooooooo! I know right? So fancy!

Okay so, update! So far, I've lost two pounds since week 3. So I am now at 175.4 pounds, I dropped a half an inch off my waist and an eighth of an inch off my hips. So slowly but surely we're burning the fat off. Woo woo. Now that I'm back in the game with P90X I'm pretty excited, but I'm also STRUGGLING! Holy crap, I am so out of shape and not as strong as I thought I was going to be. Have you ever felt that way? Not what I was expecting, but then again, hello! I rarely was doing anything cardio wise. So P90X plyometrics kicked my butt yesterday. I was sweating, panting, doing modified moves, hurting, sore, muscles were tweaking, I was out of breath, and my heart was racing. In some instances, I was yelling at Tony saying, "Are you freaking kidding me?! Again?!" But the last 5 minutes I was pushing through and working it out! I was like, "Oh yeah! Watch me finish strong Tony." And sure enough I did. There was something inside me that knew how much I wanted it. Even though it hurt, even though I wanted to quit, even though I had my doubts, I knew I had to stay motivated; I had to stay committed to my 'why' power. And heck, I sure did with a smile on my face.

Isn't that the coolest feeling? You work your butt off and it feels so great in the end. I know I'm grateful that I'm still capable of pushing my body to it's limits, even when my mind may think I can't or won't because of the struggles in the process. You have to remember that it takes work; days upon days, weeks upon weeks, months upon months, and years upon years, to get in the best shape of your life. Everyone has to start somewhere. So what's your excuse?

Set your goals. Short term and long term. Goals are what helps you achieve success. They are what drive you to push hard, and it's in that moment you realize your potential to achieve and succeed. Sure we're scared of failure, but don't be. Only be afraid not to try. Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success. Be limitless. You never know, unless you try and try and try again. It's not about the struggle, or the obstacles we're dealt with, it's about how we pick up the pieces, how we overcome, and how we make it out in the end.

I know I'm excited to see where I will be in 30 days. Then in 60 days, and 90 days. I'm so thrilled to work up to my longevity of fitness and envision where and who I will be in 12 months. Heck I'm ready to see my six pack I've been wanting and dreaming about, haha! Don't you have goals and aspirations like these? I know I'm not alone.

Come on, who's ready to take on a challenge? I'm pumped and you should be too. It's your life, it's time to take the reigns and say, "NO MORE EXCUSES." Hit me up and apply for my challenge group today. Tell me a little about you and how I can help transform you. Don't just read about my journey, let me help create yours and make it successful. Join me and we can be success stories together!

Never settle for less. Always strive for greatness.

Growing up, my parents always taught my sister and I to strive for success. They told us to that education was the key factor that no one would could ever touch or take away from us. I remember my mom bringing us to the library every single week to check out piles and piles of books to read. Regardless if she had a busy day at work, a hectic day in general, she always had time to read with us at the end of the night. Her determination to give us the best education was endless and I am so grateful for her instilling that into us.

I'm so happy my parents always pushed us to go for what we want in life, no matter how big our dreams are, we are capable of succeeded as long as we put the time and effort into it. Everything else in life can wait. All the partying, the boyfriends, the friends, the shopping, the games, all the material things were never as important as living the life God intended for us.

After I graduated high school I decided to move to Hawai'i, back to the motherland. My intentions were to go to Hawai'i Pacific University. I got accepted. However, once I got there my entire perspective changed. My attitude shifted, my goals were disoriented. I didn't care much for my education, let alone responsibility. I decided to take the unbeaten path and lost concept of who I really was. After a few years I finally got my act together and joined the United States Coast Guard. Nine years later here I am, a third class aviation maintenance technician who works on the MH-60 Jayhawks. What a journey it has been. I had the opportunity to travel, to meet new people, to find myself again, and to set new standards for myself. But even though I finally found my footing, I knew something was still missing. I still had this burning feeling inside, a desire for something more, something more meaningful. All my life I have been inspired to help other people and it finally came to me.

In May of 2014 I decided to commit to something I didn't know would be the beginning of my prized liveliness. I was all in. I made the change I've been yearning for and didn't look back. My adrenaline was so high, I did whatever it took for me to get going, to get started. And once I started, I was determined to keep going. It was tough and overwhelming in the beginning. Being introduced to this business was invigorating and exciting; motivating and inspiring. It was a scary feeling to have made this leap and entrust my future that I knew very little about. But I knew that scary feeling was a good feeling. I knew that it would drive me to new opportunities that I wouldn't regret pursuing.

So here I am 2 months later still pushing, still going at it with all that I can. I'm doing my best to juggle the time that I can and will put into this business because it's something that I have finally found my passion in. The value of instilling a positive change in someone's life, whether it's a friend, family member, or a complete stranger, is fulfilling enough for me. Being a coach in this business doesn't require you to have fancy certifications, or the required knowledge to know about nutrition, to know about every health fact/ tip, or even be an expert at fitness. All you need in order to start is to have the passion, to have the heart and desire to help people get through the struggles and trials that you went through when you were trying to make a healthy change for yourself.

All it takes is a dream to have hopes. All it takes is hard work, commitment, dedication, consistency, and a desire to make that hope turn into a reality. That reality will then turn into success. For those of you who have ever had a dream and need the motivation to get you there, I can help you! Your goals can be easily achieved through small steps of disciplined daily habits that will compound over time. All you need to have is patience. If you have the desire to help people, then consider being a Beachbody coach. Consider being a part of my team who will not only help you, support you, motivate you, and encourage you, but will help you succeed and open up doors you never thought you'd be able to do on your own. Here is an amazing opportunity knocking at your door.

Tell me why you need something more meaningful in your life. I know why I signed up and I thank God every day for showing me this awesome opportunity that I have been longing for. You don't have to settle just because you're scared to dive in and fail a few times to get to where you want to be. It's a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together.

All it takes is courage. Believe that you are capable of great things. Life will not wait for you. You have to make it happen! So let's talk. Fill out my application today, and tell me your story.

40 Pounds Down with Focus T25

Posted by BBSuccess

The new year is already ripe with some amazing transformations.  Kerstin B. has completely reshaped her body with Focus T25 and she is not done yet!  She lost 40 lbs in just 15 weeks of working out with Focus T25 and drinking Shakeology!  Here is what she had to say about it:

It began with a photo.  We visited my husband's family in November 2012.  I got the photos in December.  I didn't recognize myself and I immediately cried.  I was FAT.  I had been denying the "rolls" I saw on my back telling myself that they weren't real. Clothes weren't fitting, and I blamed the dryer.  When I saw the "fat" photo I couldn't deny it anymore.  I started running and going to the gym.  My results were okay but my body fat percentage was still high and I couldn't see any muscles.
My coach found me on Instagram and added me to Team Beachbody.  She talked to me about Shakeology and this program coming out in July called T25.  At the time I had plateaued and was angry with my slow progress.
When T25 was released I bought the challenge pack because I wanted to try Shakeology.  So I signed up , got the challenge pack and in the first week I was down 6-7 lbs!  I was amazed.  I broke through my plateau and ended up surpassing my weight loss goal by nine extra pounds!
Kerstin is currently in the middle of her second round of Focus T25 and not done yet! Congrats on your amazing results Kerstin, we can't wait to see your results from round two.
Have you had amazing results like Kerstin?  Be sure to enter the Beachbody Challenge for your chance to win!

So what are you waiting for? Will you join me in my next challenge group? Rock out Focus T25 and get the best results you ever thought possible. September 8, 2014 is the kick off, so message me if you want in. Remember the promo is only for this month, so you better act fast because this program is a hot ticket item. Please fill out my application to save your spot!
